Getting Things Done in the Territory

For four decades, I have called the Northern Territory home. I’m running for the Chan Ward because I believe our council needs someone who understands the value of a hard day’s work and has the professional experience to manage the complex challenges of a growing city.

A Foundation of Hard Work

My life before the Territory began with a decade of the heavy lifting that keeps a community running. I worked across industries including agricultural labour, horticulture, and fishing. I spent years in retail fruit and vegetables and fiberglass manufacturing, learning firsthand what it takes to power a local economy.

As Darwin grew, I was on the ground as a Technical Assistant, eventually graduating to Procurement Manager, during the construction of the Channel Island Power Station. I was responsible for the project’s document control, ensuring the precision required for one of the most critical infrastructure builds in Darwin’s history.

A “Get-It-Done” Approach to Technology

As my career progressed into technology, that same work ethic stayed with me:

  • During my time with Sportsbet (long before it became the household name it is today) here in Darwin, I was the only local ICT staff member. I remained on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to keep the business moving.
  • Connecting the Territory: While at the Northern Territory Library, I delivered the project to bring public internet access to 40 remote Indigenous communities. I’ll never forget the launch, where Charlie King narrated the story from the library floor to those 40 locations—a powerful moment that showed how technology can bridge the gap for all Territorians, long before “Teams meetings” were the status quo.

Leadership in Health and Aged Care

Over the last ten years, I have managed the complex systems that support our most essential health and care services:

  • As IT Manager for eight health clinics serving nearly 10,000 customers, ensuring the technology was as reliable as the doctors and nurses providing the care.
  • I currently oversee technology for 1,200 staff across the Territory’s regional and remote care services. From managing a fleet of 30 Starlink units for remote connectivity to developing critical industry-specific ICT governance policies, I am responsible for the infrastructure that supports our aged care and community services.
  • Managing multi-million dollar budgets in the Not-for-Profit sector requires absolute transparency and making every cent count – values I will bring to the Darwin City Council.

My Commitment to the City of Darwin

I live in Darwin and I see the potential – and the pressure – of our city every day. As a grandfather and a long-term resident, I’m not just looking for a title.

I am not running for Council to simply sit on another committee or attend meetings for the sake of it. My career has been defined by delivering tangible results, whether that is building a power station or securing health data for 10,000 Territorians. I will apply that same technical and operational oversight to the Council’s budget and infrastructure projects, ensuring every ratepayer dollar is spent with transparency and common sense.

I’ve spent much of my life working for the Territory. Now, I want to work for you.
